remember to remember

Pink Smoke_edited.jpg

Could you see us fall, when the warm wind in our hearts blew up to a storm.

A storm, so strong and wild as me.

In that moment our hearts started to beat in a new rhythm,

and we could remember to remember,

everything will be ok.

A solo performed by one dancer, but danced and embodied as a duet in both our hearts.

I must say that it is very easy to forget, in a world with so many influences and voices. Not only voices outside but voices inside your own head. Sometimes it gets too much, too many voices, too strong and too loud. At the same time, some moments are too hard to forget and forgive. This is a discovery in self love, that made the heart beat in a new rhythm. It made our hearts beat in a new rhythm, a rhythm that carried trust and calmness. A calmness of a storm. A storm that always existed, a strong, wild, storm. It was time for the storm to be fully free to breathe full breaths. A lifelong research and work that will never be finished. And  what was discovered in the unfinished, in the lifelong work that only started,  is that it is very easy to forget.  I think that was why I made this, why I created this story, to tell myself to remember to remember, that everything will be ok.

The solo was created based on a research question “What happens to your personality when you embody someone/something else?” (topic embodiment/ character work).  A question that started a discovery in oneself, through the process did the question change and take new turns and shapes alongside the physical work.

In a combination of fixed material and scored improvisation the artist goes through phases and allows you to see and feel everything with them. Under the topic of embodiment and character-work a story was created, one story with multiple inside. Truly becoming, feeling and seeing. Stepping into different archetypes, the character will deal with norms in behaviour in our society, all in its complexity with multiple layers. They find them self being judged and put in a role, as well as judging. They will be playing in the spectrum between the beauty and pain, the fragile and strong,  the joy and sorrow of each and every event.

Trying to understand others and understand oneself as well as the world. It takes courage to face oneself.

“I'm everything and absolutely nothing ,

I am everything I hate, everything I love, I am shifting and changing. Don't try to hold me, I will suffocate. I'm not the idea of who you think I am. I ́m you as much as you me, I'm them as much as little as they are you. I'm the sun, the tears and the wind. I'm everything and absolutely nothing. “

If you stop and look, observe and listen you will see all different sides of everything around you. Of every moment and movement. We are all everything you see in everyday life, everything we know and been through is a part of us. But you have to take the decision to see it, feel it, to become it.

The characters invite you to go through the struggle and joy of living with them. And open yourself to feel with them. There is always complexity in all living things. Everything always has various sides, shades and shapes. If you allow yourself to feel, you will discover that there is more than just one feeling there, existing at the same time. You are never truly alone. What do you feel?
